Exxaro has established full-time bursary programmes into which young South African citizens are annually selected for full-time studies at formal South African-recognized tertiary institutions.
About available bursary schemes.
Feeder Scheme bursaries – prepare bursars for successful careers in the organisation aligned with the company’s People Strategy (minimum of a 4-year degree), core mining industry disciplines. This includes being offered a Professional-in-Training opportunity after successful completion of your studies.
Social Scheme bursaries – prepare bursars for successful careers in the Communities where Exxaro operates. These study opportunities are aligned with the company’s Social Impact Strategy (minimum of a 3-year degree), occupations in high demand.
Bursaries to students living with disabilities – prepare bursars for successful careers in the Communities where Exxaro operates, with an option of entering Exxaro workforce e.g., learnership, internship and Professional-in-Training Programmes. Opportunities open to all directions of study.
Bursaries
The bursary is comprehensive and covers tuition fees, accommodation-, meals- and expenses relating to travel, data, wellness and books, as well as the purchase of a laptop/tablet.
The bursary program also includes the following exciting benefits:
- Dedicated administrative support & monitoring
- 1st & 2nd Semester Campus visits
- Access to senior, well experience leaders where required (mentoring)
- Annual practical work exposure at one of Exxaro’s operations (if required by studies)
- Access & liaison with other Exxaro bursars (also from other institutions)
- Awards to top performing bursars.

Students currently in the academic years as mentioned below, can apply for bursary opportunities in the following disciplines:
